Slices of Apple -Watercolor painting

Hey there! I’m Tahera and I’m back to tell you about another painting I made when I was 10 years old. This time, it’s of two apple slices that I saw lying on the kitchen counter. One was standing up and the other was flat, and I thought they looked like they were talking to each other. So, I grabbed my watercolors to capture their little conversation.

Describing My Apple

I started with the apple that was standing up because it seemed brave, like a superhero. I used reds and yellows, and a bit of green where it was starting to get a little brown. I wanted to make sure it looked strong but also kind. The other slice was lying down, and I thought it looked a bit sleepy or maybe just relaxed, enjoying a nice day.

My Age, My Art

I was still 10 when I made this, just playing with colors and learning how they mix together. It’s cool because sometimes I’d get a color I didn’t expect, but it would still look nice. That’s what I love about painting—you never really make mistakes; you just make new kinds of pretty.

The Day of the Apples

It was a quiet afternoon, just after a snack. There were apple slices left, and they caught my eye. I thought, why not paint this? It’s not every day your food gives you a great idea for a painting.

Why Apple Slices?

Apples are more than just snacks—they’re like little stories. Each slice has its own shape and shadows, and they’re fun to look at from different angles. I thought about how each slice was part of a whole apple once and now they’re here on my paper, having a new adventure.

The Challenge of Watercolors

With watercolors, you have to be careful because the water can make the paper all wavy. But I like that it’s a bit unpredictable. It makes me think on my feet, like a game where you don’t know what’s going to happen next.

What I Learn When I Paint

When I paint, I feel like I can show people how I see things. It’s not just about getting it perfect; it’s about sharing a little piece of your day or something you think is nice. And maybe, just maybe, someone else will think it’s nice too.

These apple slices might just be a snack to someone else, but to me, they were friends having a chat. And now they’re here on my paper, and I’m sharing them with you. I hope they make you think of a story and maybe make you want to paint something from your day too.

What ordinary things do you see every day that could be special? Have you ever tried painting them or telling their story? I’d love to hear about it, so please leave a comment and let’s share our stories!
